The Lower Kananaskis Lake area is situated in the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park here in Alberta, CANADA. The drive takes approximately 90 minutes. There will be plenty of opportunities to safely stop in pull out areas situated along the roadways. This is trully one of my favorite drives.

Lower Kananasji Lake

The Lower Kananaski Lake was a narural lake that was turned into a reserviour. It is one of a series of lakes, dams and reservois that supply hydro and water to the City of Calgary. It also serves for an exceptional recreational area with activities include hiking, cross country skiing and fishing.

Hiway 40 Kananaskis Once you leave the Trans Canada Hiway, you are taking a road that will wind you south through the backside of the Eastern Slopes Region. The road from the highway slowly roals untill almost suddenly you are cast through a pillar gateway to a truly beautiful vista that opens the soul. You will also get to see the Kananaskis River that flows beside the roadway along your drive through the area. Especially during sunrise and sunset, be extra cautious driving do to the abundance of wildlife in the area.
